English has been particularly the most common and popular language used all over the world. This has been the result of the language mainly been spread because of the frequent expeditions and explorations by the Englishmen. The other reason ofcourse are the contributions to literature. England has produced the most number of poetries and prose owing to the large number of English poets residing there ,also one of the reasons being the English queen giving due importance to the English language and poetry during the mediveal period.English also has a well defined grammar and which can easily be learnt by individuals who have different mother tongues other than English. Eventhough there were various competitiors to the English literature the other languages could not gain much popularity owing to their complex grammar and lexicography. This infact made the other languages diminish in the run making English more popular compared with other languages.
